MG Sinanju metallic custom by Lord-Plankton MG Sinanju metallic custom by Lord-Plankton
This model kit took me 2 weeks to complete with a total time of 82 hours. I never posted WIPs on dA to show the progress of this kit, but for those who wants to see it....I may post them into my scraps folder located here: [link] :)

Personally I am overwhelmed by the looks of this kit, despite minor problems such as metal thruster parts falling off and paint chipping off. There were several occasions where I was on a verge of giving up due to the time taken to hand paint every single part (yes I used handbrush instead of airbrush). Gotta thank a few friends especially aznriku: [link] and HCP redsync: [link] for encouraging the completion of this. Also gotta thank a friend (not on dA) for taking photos of this kit (free of charge) and went all the way as to use his grand piano as the platform. :P

New discovery is that painting this kit gives off a somewhat equal/better sheen than bandai's titanium finish.

Tell me what u guys think... ^^

The reason for this project is to mark the 10th Master Grade Kit I own in my room.

So I take it you didn't bother with the decals provided for the piping and trim!

That's an amazing piece of work - I'd heard the technique of silver -> clear colour worked well but now I've seen an example of it I'm very tempted to try it myself.

Where do you get the clear paints, and what colours can you get? If there's a light grey it offers plenty of options...

thanks.....as for the decals i plan to put them on as soon as i finish the custom paint job on the rifle...yes even after the photoshoot i aim for more detail... *w*

as for the paint, I used gloss black, chrome silver, clear red and clear gloss. many more options can be found in any local hobby store. these ones are only acrylic based but its a recommended paint type for starters. :3

Very nice, always been a fan of metallic paint jobs on the Sinanju. Mind if I ask what coats you applied and how much of each? Did you use a gloss coat after?

thanks. i applied a total of 5 coats. First coat: Gloss black. Second coat: Chrome silver. Third Coat: Clear red. Fourth coat: Clear red mixed with clear gloss.

reason for clear gloss under chrome silver is cse shiny black makes the layer of silver more shiny/metallic like. and for the final coat, i mixed clear red and clear gloss together cse it makes the last layer more sturdy (paint won't chip off so easily)..... :)

good question! This kit here is the Master Grade Sinanju ver.ka by bandai from Gundam UC (Unicorn). I bought the regular version and hand painted the red parts. ^^
